Confirmed from Mission Peak Trailhead - Ohlone College's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about Mission Peak Trailhead - Ohlone College

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (174 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

🏞️ beautiful scenery 10 mentions

“Fun trail, it’s around 6 miles round trip and took about 2 hours to get to the peak, great views and there is a bathroom half way up there.”

🌳 shaded & cool 6 mentions

“Recommend to do any time, but make sure to bring plenty of water in summer because there is no shade for about 95% of the hike.”

Great hiking place. This was my first round to Mission peak. Mission Peak Ohlone College trail is very good to start with. It has gradual inclination, so it helps for beginners. Also, this trail has some good percentage of shade and nice view to the private ranches.

★★★★★ — Shivanand , Aug 2022

The trail is steep elevation in the beginning but has beautiful views all along. Prefer this trail over the usual one starting from Mission Blvd trailhead. Easy to find parking and less crowd usually.

★★★★★ — Aravind , Jul 2024

This is my best hiking trail. Near to the city, I get around 2200 ft elevation gain from Ohlone college entrance. Total distance 7.2 miles from the mission rd parking. It gives me best cardio compare to all close by trails like PG&E trail, Alum rock, Coyote hills, Dry creek.

★★★★★ — Sandip , Feb 2021

Great day for a hike. Not crowded. The other entrance had no parking at 8am, so started this one at 8:30am. The details about this trail on AllTrails is pretty accurate. 7.3 miles in & out. Took the little one a bit longer so blazed out in 4.5 hours. ✅ this one off the bucket list :) ☮️💟🐕

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.
