Confirmed from Montgomery Hill Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

“It’s a great place to walk/run and connect with nature.”

🌳 shaded & cool 5 mentions

“Nice view, but too hot for hike when sunny no shade just a couple of trees for rest under the shade but good for exercise long enough 😀”

Tiny park with huge views! This neighborhood park is not that huge with regards to miles. I hiked it today, and doubling back on a few trails to make sure I walked them all, I clocked in about 3.6 miles. Getting to the top of the big hill, is intense but short. It's totally worth the effort as the views are underrated.

Absolutely stunning views. Easy trail and a lovely place to fly kites. We had great time.

★★★★★ — Monisha , Apr 2025

This easily wins the award for the best view for the least effort. A mere ten minute walk from your car provides a view of the entire San Jose metropolitan area plus the Santa Cruz Mountains. The trails are much wider than most places and this allows bikers and pedestrians to be friends.

loved this trail. close to where i was staying. not that well known. gentle climb up and down through some hills. the recent rains meant green grass and poppy blooms. great sights of the bay area all around from the heights and the east bay hills on the horizon. strongly recommended for a leisurely stroll anytime.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.
