Confirmed from Montour Trail - Clairton Trailhead's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Level hiking and biking trail with scenic views, plus streams and shady sections.
What runners say about Montour Trail - Clairton Trailhead
“Awesome place to run, jogging, walk, really clean and safe.”
“Once you go around the bend it's beautiful on this part of the trail.”
“Lots of shade and areas to sit”
“Great place to walk your dogs, mine love playing in the creek to cool off.”
The end of Montour Trail is here. I liked this place a lot, since it took me several weekends to get here on foot. 93 miles altogether from Coraopolis to Clairton and back. Mission accomplished! The hike ends with big steel mill. Remember that trail was built in place of former railroad?
Don't let the factories and industrial area dissuade you. Once you go around the bend it's beautiful on this part of the trail. The creek on one side and wooded Cliffside on the other is really beautiful.
It's so peaceful. I go biking/walking with my son some weekends. You will definitely see your fair share of wildlife.... haven't seen a skunk yet (knocks on wood) 🙂
The Montour Trail is great (aside from the bypasses) but getting to the Coropolis trailhead via the Neville Road detour is a deathtrap for cyclists.
