Confirmed from Mounds State Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (2,640 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

well-maintained 5 mentions

“It is clean, facilities are well maintained and informative.”

🏞️ beautiful scenery 6 mentions

“This is a beautiful park with easy trails and breathtaking views.”

🪧 well-marked 2 mentions

“It rained, so we were unable to hike, but the ends of the trails are clear and well marked.”

Really nice State Park. $7 per car, unless you have a State Parks pass. Lots of trails that cross each other so that you can meander many ways. The trails are mostly gravel pack, some are dirt, and one has asphalt. The trails are wide and well maintained. Several have stairs that make valley access easier.

There’s more to this park then meets the eye. At the center of it, Is this 2000 year-old Adena Hopewell earthwork that is a must see. Looks like a stage or a solar observatory to not only track celestial objects but to dance amongst the stars and moon. The state park is beautiful and well taken care of.

Our first time at this state park. The trails were marked very well and we hiked all of the trails in an about 3 hours. There is an area to swim near trail 6. I’d definitely visit Mounds State Park again.

Pictures kinda describe my feelings when adventure was over!!! Ha. Be prepared to walk. Had mid age grandkids and a fine spring day to enjoy. Restrooms open at the time of our visit in April

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.
