This trailhead on East Street officially opened in September 2022. It is now well marked with signage and a new parking lot for several cars. The new trail is an excellent gravel path that takes you a little ways up, about 5-10 minutes walk, just far enough to meet up with the Mt.Tom State Reservation trails.
What a great and EASY new and ACCESSIBLE trail, right off Easthampton Center - on East ST. About 1 plus miles. Completely gravel unless you take the 20 minute Kestral Trail Loop which is dirt. Views to Williamsburg and Goshen. Seems well used - parking has 10 spaces or so and two handicapped.
Mount Tom North Trailhead is a beautiful and peaceful spot for hiking. The trails are well-marked with stunning scenic and historic views. Some sections are a bit rocky and icy, but it’s manageable and not too difficult.
They really did an awesome job with this trail! Access trail is 100% wheelchair accessible with picnic tables at the top to accommodate. Beautiful area.
