Confirmed from Mt Ward Trail Head's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about Mt Ward Trail Head

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (14 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

Nice little hike! Be sure to go left at the first fork if you're looking for Mt.Ward because the arrow going to the right points towards the boroughs trail (which goes all over town and this section of it is very short).

★★★★☆ — Kristin , Jul 2023

The trail has new signs that will make it hard for you get lost, as long as you follow the map. The has enough space to walk nicely threw. It is a long trail, but not steep enough to feel like you are walking uphill, which is nice.

★★★★★ — David , Aug 2018

Nice little hike. If you’re coming from this entrance make sure to take a left through the cleared gasline route towards the east to reach the hill loop. Very cool huge old maple tree at the top of the hill.

★★★★☆ — Colette , Dec 2025

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

🅿️ Trailhead parking 3 mentions

“Parking at this entrance can probably hold 2-3 cars, but it’s at the end of a large neighborhood street so overflow parking shouldn’t be hard to find.”
