Confirmed from Municipal Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
City park with a relocated covered bridge, picnic tables, shelters & a children's playground.
What runners say about Municipal Park
“"Monkey Park" is a very nice municipal park offering picnic facilities, well maintained garden trail and grounds and multible playgrounds for children.”
“Quiet peaceful and lots of things to play on”
Have been enjoying this wonderful park for years! My daughter enjoyed it when she was younger and they keep it clean and updated. The Rockybrook Rocket (train) is such a treat for the children when it’s running. It used to be called Monkey Park because live monkeys were there.
I had a nice with my li neicey from out of state, nice walking trail , li Creek playground, it wonderful ooh n a train u can ride
"Monkey Park" is a very nice municipal park offering picnic facilities, well maintained garden trail and grounds and multible playgrounds for children. The park also has a wonderful 1955, 1:16 scale miniature train ride along the small brook. The trail also has special even rides including a Christmas light ride.
This has always been one of my favorite parks in the area. When the weather is nice and the train is running, it's a great place to spend time with the family. The equipment is in good shape. The parking lot can be full at times. But even so, there's plenty of space to spread out around the park.

“They've maintained and improved it over the years to be even more accessible while still maintaining the open, but shaded woods feel.”

The practical stuff
- AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says
- SurfaceNatural surface — easiest on the joints and the most fun, but expect roots, rocks and mud after rain
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
- LightingRunners report lights on the path — useful for pre-dawn and after-work miles. Lighting and opening hours are separate things, so check both.
- At the trailheadrestrooms — reported by runners
- Stroller / wheelchairReported as smooth and step-free enough for a running stroller or a chair.
