Confirmed from Murphey Candler Trailhead East's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about Murphey Candler Trailhead East

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (33 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

🏞️ beautiful scenery 3 mentions

“Absolutely gorgeous trail, very well maintained”

This is a nice trail to run or hike. It is 1.55 miles if you run/walk the perimeter of the park (and cross the dam at the south end of the small Candler lake). The surface is mostly natural mulch, or dirt. There are some areas that are paved.

★★★★★ — Mark , Jan 2026

A really nice trail to walk. A lot of ducks and geese, some people still feeds them considering the signs all around. Many spots to sit down and staring at the lake. Love the bridge.

★★★★☆ — Nicole , Nov 2023

Nice nature trail with a large loop and a way to cut through the middle of the loop by way of a bridge. Lots of good bird watching, the ability to fish and wide paths make this a good place to visit for a nice afternoon. The lake is not deep or leave but attracts a good variety of wildlife.

★★★★★ — Jason , Jun 2026

A quiet trail for walking and a dog friendly environment. Nice city getaway for a picnic and relaxation.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.
