We have not been able to confirm the surface, distance or shape of Ned Brown Meadow yet from its own listing, the park's website or runner reviews — so those cells stay blank rather than guess. What is below comes straight from the listing and from reviewers' own words. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Forest preserve for biking, boating and fishing, plus open fields for flying model aircraft.
What runners say about Ned Brown Meadow
“Since the wind usually blows up from the southwest, there's a good half mile of open field to allow the wind to clean up before waking your nylon monster.”
Pulled into the preserve to do some charting for work. Has large open fields and indeed as some reviews say, model planes were being flown which was cool but also annoying because of the engine sound which was more annoying than a drone. The location has public bathrooms and some large Pavillion for gatherings.
This is one of the few decent places to fly a power kite in the area. Since the wind usually blows up from the southwest, there's a good half mile of open field to allow the wind to clean up before waking your nylon monster.
Great place to see birds, deer, and chipmunks. Some more rare birds we saw were herons, meadowlark, and northern flicker. Part of the north millennial trail goes along the road but once you pass 176, it'd quite serene.
This is one of my favorite trails in the area. Summer is the most gorgeous time for the walking, but you can enjoy the view even in the fall!
