Confirmed from New York Skyline Viewing Point's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about New York Skyline Viewing Point

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (34 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

🏞️ beautiful scenery 4 mentions

“The view of NY, however, even on a clear beautiful day, is limited.”

This is a pretty area to hike and not for beginners. It was fun to get lost on the trails through the woods, lots of families, and doggies. But let me make it clear that there if you are coming here to see the skyline, it is non existent . That is all

★★★★★ — Almedina , Nov 2023

On a clear day, look in the distance (just above the dome). You should be able to see the World Trade Center and other buildings of the Manhattan skyline! That is a distance of roughly 40 miles, as the crow flies. This viewing point is a neat treat before descending the mountain.

★★★★★ — Andrew , Jan 2022

Great park with well marked trails. Take a picture of the trail map to make your life easier. The trails are marked by painting the color of the trail on easy to see places on trees along the way. On clear days, you can see the new york skyline from the viewing location.

★★★★★ — Mark , Jun 2024

A fantastic climb to the top. The view of NY, however, even on a clear beautiful day, is limited. But all in all a great place to walk and trek.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

🏞️ Scenic views 11 mentions

“You don't get the clearest view because there's still considerable distance.”
