Confirmed from Normanskill Farm HikingTrail's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

Scenic walk by the river through the grounds of a beautiful old farm. Very clean and well maintained. The trail was very muddy, but it's just that time of year.

★★★★★ — Christa , Feb 2023

Gorgeous area, dog park is clean, peopke are friendly, the visible bridge has a gorgeous view but if you walk up the hill across from the parking lot there is a hidden one that is absolutely stunning. Highly recommend. Gets more beautiful as seasons change, never a dull moment, but never without peace.

My absolute favorite local dog walk and park. Gorgeous well maintained trails with lots of responsible dog owners. I go here every day, sometimes twice.

★★★★★ — Eamon , Jul 2019

This hidden gem is amazing, a small dog park/trail but it's absolutely beautiful. It's quiet and peaceful, not to mention it's right off of Delaware Ave before you cross the bridge over the Normanskill. It does seem well known to locals and years ago there was a dog oriented geocache here, which was a cute find.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

🐕 Dog-friendly 28 mentions

“Always a great hike, finally got to take my dog out for the very first time, fellow hikers and dog owners here have such an amazing community.”

Plan your run at Normanskill Farm HikingTrail

The practical stuff

  • AccessOpen 24 hours — no gate to beat, so a 5am or a 10pm run both work
  • SurfaceNatural surface — easiest on the joints and the most fun, but expect roots, rocks and mud after rain
  • DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
  • ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
  • DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
