Confirmed from North Standley Lake Open Space Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
The northern part of Standley Lake Park, viewable from the water-only due to bald eagle nesting.
What runners say about North Standley Lake Open Space Park
“The park is clean and well maintained and the prices were very reasonable.”
“Amazingly beautiful, perfect for a walk, running or a MTB ride.”
I really adore this place being a fan of nature, but I come for the birds in particular. I have been lucky enough to spot the Bald Eagles in the sanctioned area of the space, and have also seen hawks and turkey vultures among many smaller common birds. A wonderful place for a walk, or a drive, or a picnic.
This is my favorite place to take my dog on a walk. Both she and I love coming here. There are some really beautiful views.
Great views of the mountains. Great chance of seeing prairie dogs, bunnies, all kinds of birds and a shot at foxes, coyote, and snakes. Good trail system and a little beach to hang out at (though not a swimming spot).
Such a great piece of nature managed by Westminster. They offer free birding walks twice a month and other nature programs that you can sign up for on the City of Westminster site. Camping/RV sites are available in the summer. The staff is knowledgeable and friendly. Keep your dogs on leash!

The practical stuff
- AccessDawn to dusk — the gates close, so do not plan a run that finishes after dark
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
- At the trailheadparking, restrooms, water — reported by runners
- DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
