Confirmed from O.W. Fannin Natural Area's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about O.W. Fannin Natural Area

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (78 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

🏞️ beautiful scenery 3 mentions

“Beautiful area and if your lucky you'll see the peacocks!”

This place is a hidden Gem. Paved walking trails that go through a nature area, there are only a few access points so it's tricky finding the park honestly. The coolest part is dirt paths that swing through the forest by a creek and are great for hiking. Love this place.

Nice walking trail. I parked at FJ "Red" Kane Park and just followed the trail to get a quick walk in on my lunch and do some Geocaching. The signs are informative and I enjoyed the walk. Middle of the day during the week there was hardly nobody on the trail.

Had great hike no signs to mark trail. But really enjoyed it. Kind of a hidden gem. Lived in the area for over 30 years didn't know it was there.

Felt like Narnia through the wardrobe. What looked like a small, point-to-point trail opened into a full-blown nature escape once I got off the paved trail and headed down the unpaved one near the entrance. I actually didn’t intend to come to O.W.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

🐕 Dog-friendly 5 mentions

“But once my dog saw a squirrel run down the unpaved trail, we had a lot more fun.”
