Confirmed from Oahe Downstream Recreation Area's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Waterfront campground & hiking area with fishing, disc golf & wildlife, including bald eagles.
What runners say about Oahe Downstream Recreation Area
“The bathrooms in our campground were very clean and had great showers.”
“Such a wonderful beautiful Park can ask for a nicer spot for a picnic or a get together very impressed definitely will tell others and come back❤❤🌞🌞🌞🌞🌼🌼🌼☀☀☀❤❤❤”
“Very quiet peaceful campground #3.”
We loved this park. It is right outside Pierre, SD, so is an easy drive if needing supplies. This is a huge park with 3 campground areas. We stayed in area 2 which was right next to the Missouri River. Campgrounds 1 & 2 are next to each other and an easy walk around them both.
This is a great place to camp. The sites are large, there's a park for the kids, and the one-way traffic makes it safe for kids and adults to ride bicycles around the campground. The bathrooms/showers are nice and the beach is within walking distance. The 4th of July bicycle parade for kids is really fun!
Awesome park! It's pretty big. There is some small trails. There is a cool spot you can turn down and drive your car practically onto the river which is awesome.
Beautiful place. Paved for most of the area and a great place to relax. The roads are kind of confusing it's really just better to use Google maps or satelite images to get around. Also be ready to get some driving in. There are no places around the area to get snacks or drinks so bring your own.
