Confirmed from Oconee Forest Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Sprawling public acreage with petroglyphs, historic ruins, 850+ miles of trails, campgrounds & more.
What runners say about Oconee Forest Park
“You will feel like you are in the middle of nowhere with 100 year old Oak trees, and undisturbed forests, beautiful area!”
“Nice trails for a relaxing walk or a great trail run with plenty of elevation change!”
“Just what I needed on a hot day; shady trail without a lot of traffic.”
Great trails and what a beautiful place this is. 🥰 I was visiting from Idaho and wanted a place to take some pictures. This was a great place for that. Very scenic. 😎🚣📸
I love to walk around the lake and on it's many trails. It's a great place for all ages. The trails are kept up and it's beautiful ❤️
Very nice! Beautiful lake, well kept trails, nice place for a little peace and quiet and almost in my back yard! Awesome!
Nice path along the lake and through the woods. Walked it with a 2 year old. Cell service all over. Needs more path markers. Easy to get lost. The map at the entrance isn't too good. Just turn on Google maps if you get lost. Fishing allowed most places. biking allowed on big path.

The practical stuff
- AccessOpen 24 hours — no gate to beat, so a 5am or a 10pm run both work
- SurfaceMixed — more than one surface along the route, so check the segment you plan to run
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeRunners describe real tree cover here — it makes a summer afternoon workable
- At the trailheadparking — reported by runners
- DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
- Stroller / wheelchairReported as smooth and step-free enough for a running stroller or a chair.
