Confirmed from Ohio & Erie Canal's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
System of hiking trails & railways designed to share the story & heritage of the historic waterway.
What runners say about Ohio & Erie Canal
“It is absolutely gorgeous, especially in the fall when all the leaves are changing colors!”
We walked 2.5 miles from lock 29 in Peninsula to the Boston store trailhead and back. This is one of my favorite stretches. It's very scenic. The town of Peninsula has a variety of small shops and restaurants. There are nice indoor restrooms at both trailheads.
Such a great place to bring the family and have some outdoor fun! Go for a bike ride or walk down the towpath. It is absolutely gorgeous, especially in the fall when all the leaves are changing colors!
Great trail on the paved part ... didn't attempt the unpaved side yet but we will soon. Only downside was the one unleashed dog. If we had our pups, I would've been more upset because you just never know and leash laws are there for a reason
Very nice part of the Towpath trail system. Easy walking or biking path. Lots of history here. Worth the time to read the park information boards.
