Confirmed from Old Rifle Range Conservation Land's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
What runners say about Old Rifle Range Conservation Land
Old Rifle Range of Concord tackles two leisurely categories in one: hiking and history. Hiking is serviced by the trail variety through the slopes and bogs. History is serviced by how the ORR (too rugged and swampy for farming and other uses) is the remnant of a WWI-era combat training zone (look out for the turrets…
Nice place for hiking; especially nice since you can take your (well behaved!) dog off leash once you're inside the trails. I was able to get in a 3 mile hike by using the main and secondary trails.
Trails are single-track dirt paths. Central and West side trails are dry, if a bit root covered in portions. The east side can get wet. Good place for a trail run, and conveniently located. Only about 6 parking spots, however.
Three stars for the trail, which is narrow and cross-sloped for long sections, swampy in others. An extra star for the historical interest / rifle range targets. Not a bad place for a walk, but not my favorite.

The practical stuff
- AccessHours vary — hours are not posted for this trail, so check before an early or late run
- SurfaceNatural surface — easiest on the joints and the most fun, but expect roots, rocks and mud after rain
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
