Confirmed from Old Trail Town's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

A collection of ghost-town relics recreate the frontier west in Buffalo Bill's original Cody Town.

What runners say about Old Trail Town

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (1,793 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

I was very surprised how much I loved this stop. Wasn't sure quite what to expect but was blown away by the history of the west that is preserved here. It was so interesting to read about all the cabins that had been saved from distruction. The number of artifacts and how they are displayed is incredible.

Old Trail Town is an absolute gem and a must-visit if you’re in the area! This place is incredibly well-preserved and offers such a unique glimpse into how people lived many years ago.

★★★★★ — Alex , Jun 2025

The 30 or so buildings have been disassembled, transported and rebuilt to create Old Trail Town. The buildings are arranged either side of a main street, and with a general store, a school, a saloon, a brothel, and a handful of cabin homes the town gives off an authentic, evocative vibe.

We go once a year. There’s just something about the smell of old wood and leather. Many of the cabins are from local areas and have been relocated to create this old trail town. So many neat artifacts to look at with information plaques to read. Several colorful characters are even buried here.
