Confirmed from Onslow County Parks: Oakhurst Landing and Nature Trail's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
County park with 2 forested walking trails & a launch area on the New River for canoes & kayaks.
What runners say about Onslow County Parks: Oakhurst Landing and Nature Trail
My girlfriend and I bring the dogs out here all the time to walk on the trails we have a great time with them in the outdoors... We came down here with fishing poles on a Saturday and spent some time on the water enjoying the fun of catching fish...
If launching a kayak be sure to bring your wheels. It is a decent walk from the parking lot to the launch. The dock is nice and has a kayak ramp. I would imagine the water here is mostly fresh and would be a good creek type fishing environment. The launch is at the end of the creek so it is a bit swampy.
This nice little trail is great for a shaded walk. It's not very long but if you're a go getter you can do 4-5 laps and get a good walk in. The canoe/ kayak launch ramp is perfect if you have one. Have a try. You won't be disappointed. Also, bring your dogs. Our 2 loved the trail!!
Nice little walk. We saw a turtle and a tree frog. Brackish water showed off some lovely aquatic plants
