Confirmed from Orchard Heights Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

“The dog park is fantastic, the tennis courts are clean and well maintained, the basketball court always looks nice and finally the baseball field is very will maintained.”

🏞️ beautiful scenery 4 mentions

“There's a large area above the playground and fields that is an off-leash field for friendly dogs that is just gorgeous!”

I don’t live in Salem, but have either driven through or visited family there often enough to want a place to run my dogs - Orchard Park has this great off-leash area where they can get a lot of their energy out and it’s a nice (pretty short) trail walk to get to that area, with a stream running along the side of the…

The tennis courts here are fantastic!! They also have pickle ball and lots of space for both dogs and kids to run around. The playground is great as well. Very clean and safe park, and I frequently see volunteer groups working on the trails and cleaning up the creek on nice days.

What a fun trail to take the dogs to! There is a paved pathway at first around the fields for sports and play. Then there is a dirt trail that goes over a clear water creek that goes thru the wooded areas behind homes that meanders around and then ends up at a bridge over that same creek towards the children’s…

Wonderful walking trails, paved and unpaved options, baseball diamonds, dog park, kid park, big grassy field, benches. This park is lovely and has it all.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

The practical stuff

  • AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says
  • SurfaceMixed — more than one surface along the route, so check the segment you plan to run
  • DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
  • ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
  • At the trailheadrestrooms, water — reported by runners
  • DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
