Confirmed from Straub Nature Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

🐕 dog-walking favorite 3 mentions

“My dogs and I turned around and walked back up once we were at the end and got our exercise because the trail was more uphill going back the way we came.”

Entrance is off of Doaks Ferry Road. Google Maps takes you to the high school. The trail thru the woods was nice and wide and had a lot of wood chips, so no mud. If you enter on the right, it will wind you around.

Great park to walk around. I had a great time walking around with my son. We got to see lots of cool mushrooms growing. Awesome place to walk your dog without to many distractions.

I saw a review that mentioned it was about a 30 minute trail, but when I took my kids on this trail it honestly only took 10 minutes. We ended up looping around a couple times and ended up exploring some of the offtrails. It looks like it backs up to a school and we found a few paths some kids probably take.

Quiet park and an easy trail. We brought the dog because it's a dog friendly park for leashed dogs! We walked the main loop in about 30 minutes. But, there are several off-shoots of smaller trails to choose from. We had the whole place to ourselves! And a gorgeous day does this place justice.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

The practical stuff

  • AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says
  • SurfaceNatural surface — easiest on the joints and the most fun, but expect roots, rocks and mud after rain
  • DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
  • ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
  • DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
