Confirmed from Otter Mound Preserve's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Relaxed waterfront preserve offering a walking trail through a historic tropical hardwood hammock.
What runners say about Otter Mound Preserve
“There isn't a lot to see but it was a very beautiful day for a leisurely stroll.”
We took my mother in a short walk of the site just to get out and stretch her legs from riding in the car so much. There isn't a lot to see but it was a very beautiful day for a leisurely stroll. The pathway is mulch type chips and she handled it just fine. There were a few birds to view and some native trees too.
Otter Mound Preserve is a beautiful little area to walk through. It is small and will only take you 5-10 minutes to walk around the designated trail. It may be short, but I definitely recommend checking it out. Sadly some of the walls that the Otter family built, look like they were destroyed, probably by a hurricane.
I wouldn't have known this was here if I didn't see it on the map!! I'm so glad I found it - it was a perfect mini adventure to kick off my morning. The trail is short, sweet, and so fun to wonder about the people who built the mound. It felt holy to me!
I enjoyed reading about the history of this place and seeing a bit of nature in the middle of a neighborhood! It’s a small little park but interesting nonetheless the less. I’m an Ohioan and the amount of geckos that were there scurrying around was wild!
