Confirmed from Overlook Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

“This small park is well maintained with good walking paths.”

🏞️ beautiful scenery 4 mentions

“I have never been to the overlook park before but the day that I chose to go, the sky was just stunning with big fluffy clouds.”

🌾 quiet & peaceful 4 mentions

“A nice peaceful place overlooking the former Midland Nuclear plant ponds.”

Sure it overlooks Dow, but it's still a beautiful park. My husband and I love to go and park there just to watch the wildlife or catch the sunset. Was just there last night for the first time in a year or so. Sat and watched the geese, a couple of cranes and of course the deer.

★★★★★ — Tammy , Jul 2021

Nice area for a walk or just to enjoy the evening. The view is nice and the kids enjoy sledding here in the winter time.

★★★★★ — Gabe , Jul 2018

There is not really a lot to say about the park. There is a playground, and a paved trail that is part of the rail trail In the summer it is a great spot to watch the fireworks for the 4th of July or the Loons game that fire them off on random weekends.

★★★★☆ — Tina , Jul 2022

Nice overview of the massive Dow/Dupont facilities with a water feature in the foreground ( the cooling ponds for the canceled Midland nuclear plant) The park is well cared for with a few amenities. Picnic tables and benches. Also, information plaques, which are interesting.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

🏞️ Scenic views 20 mentions

“Although it overlooks a sprawling metropolis of industry and pollution, Overlook Park is still a standout showcase of Midland scenery.”

The practical stuff

  • AccessOpen 24 hours — no gate to beat, so a 5am or a 10pm run both work

  • DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
