Confirmed from Palisades Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

We love this park!! Big grass area, cement "track" great for walking or kids getting to ride bikes/scooters! The big toy is super fun and there's picnic tables scattered around so there spots to picnic and hangout for a while but you don't feel like you're right next to everyone else!

Palisades Park in Federal Way, Washington, is a truly awesome urban oasis. Its well-maintained trails wind through lush greenery, offering a serene escape for walkers, joggers, and nature enthusiasts.

★★★★★ — S , Jul 2025

This is a nice neighborhood park with grassy areas, trees and bushes. It has a playground with baby swings, slides, ladders and a climbing wall. There are several benches for sitting and picnic tables. The parking area is small, but the park is used mostly by the locals who walk there with their kids.

It was so fun. My son was shy at first but warmed up to the other kids.. it was a sheer joy to watch all their little happy faces and running around. Getting to know each other a breath of fresh air for sure during these times.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

The practical stuff

  • AccessDawn to dusk — the gates close, so do not plan a run that finishes after dark
  • Loop distance9 mi back to where you parked. Long enough for a real long run.
  • ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
  • LightingRunners report lights on the path — useful for pre-dawn and after-work miles. Lighting and opening hours are separate things, so check both.
  • At the trailheadparking, restrooms — reported by runners
  • DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
