2/3rds of the hike is a trail next to the road. You're not on the sidewalk, you do have your own gravel path, but it's not a nature hike when you hear the cars zoom by. Still the mice view at the top was pretty worth it. Might just turn around to enjoy the nature part twice.
From this point, you can see Orange County in 360°. On the clear day, you can see buildings in the LA downtown. There are trails all around leading to this point.
I recently added this bookmark and was eager to check it out. It's easily accessible via the Summit House parking lot; just follow the signs as you near the Coyote Hills golf course! Eye candy all around!! Not the type you're probably thinking of... but abundant, nonetheless!
It's easier to walk when the weather is dry as there are slopes. You will pass by people's front yard and back yard, just follow the muddy equestrian trail and you'll be fine. Suggest to wear hiking shoes as some pathway can be uneven and with gravel, it can be slippery though I saw joggers on the trail.
