Confirmed from Paul Douglas Preserve's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Public woodlands popular for bird-watching, with a paved cycling trail & an 18-hole golf course.
What runners say about Paul Douglas Preserve
I found out about this Mountain Bike Trail from one of my Boy Scout Leaders who bikes/ fixes up the trail. Came up here and I really enjoy the trails. I’ve came here to hike and bike. It’s so much fun. Next time I should mountain bike while it’s dry because it was annoying when I went because it was snowy and muddy.
Great trail system! I’ve ridden here twice now and really enjoyed it. The trails are long, provide a solid workout, and are beginner friendly overall. My only downsides are that many of the fun downhills are cut short by sharp turns into uphills, which kills your momentum, and I think a hardtail suits this place…
Great trails (both paved and single track)! Make sure to check the website to know which direction the single track trails run as they change direction on alternating days! Also there's a great bike shop nearby (Crank Revolutions) if you run into any problems.
Spotted from the interstate traveling west, perfect place for a picnic lunch. Plenty of shade trees to park yourself under. Tons of blackberry bushes alongside the path, expect your kids to come back stained purple!

“Well maintained MTB trail systems, some say its rather flat but twisty.”

The practical stuff
- AccessDawn to dusk — the gates close, so do not plan a run that finishes after dark
- SurfaceMixed — more than one surface along the route, so check the segment you plan to run
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
- At the trailheadparking, restrooms — reported by runners
- DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
- Stroller / wheelchairReported as smooth and step-free enough for a running stroller or a chair.
