Confirmed from Pawtuxet Oxboes Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

Dog-friendly

City park with picnic areas and trails along the Patuxent River that are popular with dog owners.

Nice nature trail thru the wood's with the pawtuxet river running thru the middle .

One of my favorite places to go for a walk. It's beautiful whatever the season. The main path branches off and crosses Pawtuxet River. The walk along the river is simply lovely. Yes, off leash dogs can be a problem, but I'm not reviewing people here!

If you're a dog lover, the trails will make your best friend/friends very happy. You will see ducks galore, maybe a few geese on the river, and possibly a pair of swans that have nested there for years. But even yesterday I saw the pair, one sleeping, the other keeping watch.

Fantastic, under-utilized trails along the Pawtuxet River. Great for birding. If you bring a dog be forewarned that many dog walkers walk their dogs off leash here and not all are well socialized.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

  • DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
