Confirmed from Peffer Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
What runners say about Peffer Park
“It abuts Silvoor Woods which is gorgeous, as well as the Oxford Community Trail, which connects to other hiking trails.”
“On evenings when the park is quiet, a herd of deer will sometimes be grazing in the field and can be watched from the swings or the shelter.”
It's an equal opportunity townie/uni park for relaxing, dining, cavorting, and walking, now connected to the paved loop making its way around the city. Also adjacent to Silvoor biological sanctuary, which has some nice spring flowers and large trees in a less grassy setting.
Literally in the heart of the city trail system, this spot gives you access to everything. The cemetery trail loop is my current favorite as it's a fantastic trail through the woods with a nice view to the Oxford Cemetery.
We have had countless family fun times at Peffer. It abuts Silvoor Woods which is gorgeous, as well as the Oxford Community Trail, which connects to other hiking trails.
Good place to walk trails and wind down or exercise and stay fit.. perfect for both occasions. Beautiful scenery, updated walking trails (blacktop)

The practical stuff
- AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says
- SurfacePaved — asphalt or concrete. Fast and predictable, runnable year-round, and fine with a stroller
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
- At the trailheadparking, restrooms — reported by runners
- DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
