Confirmed from Pequot Woods Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
140-acre park offering hiking trails, wildlife viewing & a pond, plus picnic grounds.
What runners say about Pequot Woods Park
“Lots of shade, path not smooth so good hiking trail, water very low but still beautiful area.”
“Great set of trails for an easy hike through the woods.”
Pequot Woods is a small park with a pretty, well defined walking trail. March 2025: some maintenance needs to be improved. There were large black plastic tubes to conduct water around the pond, and other minor debris that detracted from the view a little. Don't let that stop you from going though.
This is a deceptively large patch of woods right near downtown Mystic. Great for walking dogs or just an easy several mile hike. Paths on the west side are the nicest and can be used for trail running.
Nice trails the main loop is about 1.5 miles with some trails splitting off of that. There is a very scenic ridge.
It was a fun hike for the family! Everyone enjoyed the hike that ended up being 2 miles.

The practical stuff
- AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says
- SurfaceNatural surface — easiest on the joints and the most fun, but expect roots, rocks and mud after rain

- ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
- At the trailheadparking — reported by runners
- Stroller / wheelchairReported as smooth and step-free enough for a running stroller or a chair.
