Confirmed from Petersburg National Battlefield-City Point Unit's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

ScenicRestrooms

Park with historical significance, including the cabin used by General Grant, and walking trails, plus fishing.

What runners say about Petersburg National Battlefield-City Point Unit

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (207 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

🏞️ beautiful scenery 6 mentions

“The crowds are minimal, the view is stunning, and there’s much to explore.”

This is a wonderful small park that shows a few aspects of our history. The house is a good starting point for both the tour as well as the wonderful porch that it has.

★★★★★ — Jason , Jul 2019

Had a great time at this hidden litte treasure. Its located right on the water. This is a great place for a stroll with history. There is room for the kids to run around too. I play Pokemon Go and it was great to see so many others that do too! Lots of spots and gyms!

★★★★★ — Brandi , May 2018

Precursor to battle tactics in WW 1 (not that these were good tactics). Lots of hiking trails and a nice museum.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

🏞️ Scenic views 11 mentions

“The grounds are will kept and maintained, plus there are several historic houses nearby, that though privately owned are great to view while walking down towards the river.”

🚻 Restrooms 2 mentions
