Confirmed from Pier 84 Dog Run's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

“It was clean overall, aside from a few spots where some owners hadn't picked up after their dogs.”

🏞️ beautiful scenery 4 mentions

“Beautiful view of the river and Intrepid, but the park itself isn't very exciting.”

🌳 shaded & cool 3 mentions

“Pros: shade, water fountain, cool people, good location.”

Newly re-opened this past Tuesday. Renovated and beautiful for dogs and pet parents. Right next to the Intrepid and Circle Line tours. I loved it! I am a dog walker

I actually enjoy this dog run far more than others in the city. I love that they have kiddie pools, sprinklers, water bowls, and fountains. They even have a toy library for the pups, though I'd recommend bringing your own since the shared toys seemed a bit dirty.

A nice open space to stop, pick up a bike and join everyone on the bike path. Another great place to take pictures of the intrepid. With enough seating on premise, you can enjoy a quick bit before or after visting. A calm and relaxing pit stop to enjoy the view.

★★★★☆ — Rose , Aug 2013

My sister and I have been to this place months ago and that while standing on the outside, it was a nice sunny day and that there were many dogs playing running around, playing with water, and having fun.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

🐕 Dog-friendly 31 mentions

The practical stuff

  • AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says
  • SurfacePaved — asphalt or concrete. Fast and predictable, runnable year-round, and fine with a stroller
  • DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
  • ShadeRunners describe real tree cover here — it makes a summer afternoon workable
  • At the trailheadwater — reported by runners
  • DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
