Confirmed from Pinehurst Mountain Bike Trail's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Recreational park with trails featuring tight turns, roots, obstacles, and drops.
What runners say about Pinehurst Mountain Bike Trail
“The path is well kept with many "obstacles" and terrain changes that are suitable for both mountain biking and a challenging trail run.”
Today was my first time riding here and I’m pretty happy with the way they designed the trails. Ima beginner/intermediate rider. It’s not overly and twisty and lose like some trails that I’ve been on. Also it’s not over crowded so you can ride comfortably at your own pace.
My kids always love this place. Challenging ride, lots of roots, twists and turns. Lots of shade!!! A bit awkward for parking but otherwise great place!
Awesome technical trail. Has some flowy areas, but a lot of good rooty, twisty aareas to really test/hone your skills. Had one person say it well..."If you're fast at Pinehurst, you're fast anywhere" I've ridden the trail over the last 5 years, and the group that maintains it has done a great job of keeping it mostly…
Kind of confusing where the trail starts bc it’s off the side of the road and you have to park at the park down the street and just ride over, it’s actually simple but just be aware. Pretty technical with lots of roots and tight squeezes between trees, some sand.
Trail conditions & character
“So being a novice MT biker, I found this trail to be technical for my skill level.”
“Parking was hard to find, but I parked on the west side of the road and didnt get ticketed during my hour stay.”
“I decided to run the trails (sticking to mostly blue and black level difficulties) and absolutely loved my time.”

The practical stuff
- AccessOpen 24 hours — no gate to beat, so a 5am or a 10pm run both work
- SurfaceNatural surface — easiest on the joints and the most fun, but expect roots, rocks and mud after rain
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
