Confirmed from Poquonnock Plains Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about Poquonnock Plains Park

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (420 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

well-maintained 7 mentions

“The play ground is always clean, there's ample parking and a great community surrounding it.”

🏃 great for running 2 mentions

“There is a large field attached that's great for letting the kids run off steam.”

My four year old LOVES this play set. Sometimes we go out of our way sometimes to stop here. The parking lot has damaged the struts (i think? That's what it is I'm no mechanic) on my car to the point I don't even want to pull in but Audrey enjoys playing here so much I brace myself and drive thru the mole hills…

Great park for young kids.....pletty of space and things for them to ride, climb, crawl, swing.....etc. my guees is best for kids 10 and under. There is also a very large open field used mainly for organized sports (soccer, football, lacrosse, etc....

Wonderful place for families. Walking/running track, large field for soccer, lacrosse, peewee football, etc. Has an all-inclusive playground for children of all abilities. Adjacent to a food market for breakfast, lunches, ice cream too. Has bathroom facilities at playground open when Town activities are taking place.

★★★★☆ — Sue , Feb 2017

Awesome park. Unique playground that's safe for most ages (my youngest just turned 6 and he had no problem scaling, jumping and climbing but definite challenges for little little ones) loved running around with the kids if you're in the area it's worth taking the time to check out

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

🚻 Restrooms 8 mentions

“Cute local park that has a great little playground, a track and field, as well as, restroom facilities and parking.”

  • At the trailheadparking, restrooms — reported by runners
  • Stroller / wheelchairReported as smooth and step-free enough for a running stroller or a chair.
