Confirmed from Porter Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about Porter Park

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (226 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

well-maintained 8 mentions

“The park has a welcoming, well-maintained feel, making it a great spot for outdoor activities, family outings, or just spending some relaxing time in the fresh air.”

🌳 shaded & cool 4 mentions

“Some nice play equipment, not great shade there, but there are benches near by with some.”

This is an excellent park! Plenty of shade, two medium-sized play structures (that seem appropriate for kids ~2yrs+), pretty clean bathrooms, a nice walking loop, swings, and a large sandbox with lots of toys. There is also plenty of seating on benches and picnic tables.

★★★★★ — Laurel , Aug 2023

This is a lovely small park, ideal for families in the area. It features newer playground equipment that kids really enjoy, and the walking trail is perfect for both dog walking and letting children ride their bikes safely.

Went to the Prairie Village block party at Porter park. Lots of room to run and play. Picnic areas were roomy and clean. Bathroom was unlocked and good air flow. They had music, cotton candy, and caricature artist at the party.

I'd never been to this park before and WOW have I been missing out!! Fabulous play area for kids, great trail for walking your dog and just looking at nature.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

🚻 Restrooms 10 mentions

“Bathrooms are super clean, equipment is great and there are always toys in the sandpit for the kids to play with.”
