Confirmed from Potawatomi Woods' own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
This grassy & wooded area provides trails, a picnic area & water access for fishing.
What runners say about Potawatomi Woods
“Convenient location, looks beautiful during fall colors, big and spacious parkings (3 locations), nice place for a quick nature break or picnic.”
This is a beautiful trail that follows along the Des Plaines River. The walking trail is well marked and it is easy to find your way along this Forest Preserve path. We were able to observe Blue Jays, and a few different types of woodpeckers.
It was just gorgeous during fall ! Loved being there .. they had a walking trail and it’s a great spot to hangout during fall . If you live close by and if you are looking around to check out fall colors ,Go to this place ,I’m sure it won’t disappoint you .
Potawatomi Woods offered a relaxing walk through the snow and ice. I got as far as lake cook road and turned around. If you're looking for other hikes like this in the area....visit my website hike360vr.com
My favorite woods in the Buffalo Grove area. The trial starting from Potawatomi woods cover 30 miles. Trial follows the Des plaines river. Small streams join the river along the way, if lucky you can spot deers. Ample car parking, there is a shed( which you can book ahead of time) for organizing party.
