Confirmed from Quigley Canyon Open Space's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about Quigley Canyon Open Space

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (83 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

🏞️ beautiful scenery 9 mentions

“There are good hills, open meadows, great views and a very cool dry creek bed with heavy oak canopies.”

🌳 shaded & cool 6 mentions

“The trial is about 2 miles long, with shaded areas throughout the path and steep regions at the top of the loop coming down.”

🐕 dog-walking favorite 3 mentions

“This dog friendly park has a wide path thru the meadows and the shade of the oak trees.”

The scenery is beautiful and there's a good variety of trail difficulty for such a small open area. There are flat trails you can stroll on, moderate hills for a view and steep trails for the adventurists. The coyote trail is very steep and easy to slip on. Lots of fox tails. Our dog got several stuck in her paw.

Always enjoy hiking here. Nice beautiful trails and a great stopping point to have a picnic! I love the trees and the green grass (for now). Saw a sweet bus at the top of the hill and spotted a few deer also!

Secret spot tucked in Placerita Canyon. This dog friendly park has a wide path thru the meadows and the shade of the oak trees. Offers easy to tough up hill hikes. Many help signs along the way. No restroom

★★★★★ — Tina , Nov 2021

As has been mentioned enter the park/space from Railroad, Placerita Road and then park at the end of Cleardale St IF Google Maps doesn't take you there. Hiking: Has easy trails, some moderate, a couple that have some decent ascents.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

🏞️ Scenic views 15 mentions

“It's a stones throw from Newhall with views of very large houses the Santa Clarita Valley and mountain ranges.”
