Confirmed from Quincy Reservoir's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

🌾 quiet & peaceful 4 mentions

Came here at 6-7 and it was picturesque. It was a nice trail around the reservoir, took about 45min it was a nice experience.

Honestly I've lived in Aurora for decades and never knew this place existed! Awesome place to see some water and walk on a soft trail. The bugs are relentless but truly spectacular for being in the city. There are not a lot of people on the trails and after you walk from the parking lot the noise just disappears.

★★★★☆ — Robert , Sep 2020

About two miles around the reservoir on a nice rolling trail. Not a perfect loop, the trail goes through a revolving gate that eventually leads back to Quincy and its sidewalk (but you can squeeze your mountain bike through). Beautiful fishing and picnic area.

★★★★☆ — Shawn , May 2025

Very peaceful lake. No motorized boats allowed so the water is clean. The trails are good for hiking and biking, but the trails can be uneven and muddy sometimes, so be careful. Kayaking is nice out on the lake when it isn’t windy. You can’t stop on the island or swim, but paddling out there is fun.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

The practical stuff

  • AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says
  • DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
  • ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
  • LightingRunners report lights on the path — useful for pre-dawn and after-work miles. Lighting and opening hours are separate things, so check both.
  • At the trailheadparking — reported by runners
  • Stroller / wheelchairReported as smooth and step-free enough for a running stroller or a chair.
