Confirmed from Red Run Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Modest, wooded park with ball fields, basketball & tennis courts, picnic tables & a playground.
What runners say about Red Run Park
This is a really cool park with three play areas and a lot of green grass to run around. There's some toys hanging about for kids to play and some music to play under one of the slides. The sign notes this park as accessible, but I don't think it is.
Very large, open space park within the Royal Oak community. Lots of room for dogs to run around, a tennis and basketball court, and jungle gyms for children to play on.
It's a pretty good playground for the kids. This is just a warning though, I walk my dogs here nightly and a week ago my terrier got skunked in the face. I went back a few days later and have seen skunks no joke every night.
I run with my dog at Red Run Park. Lots of space, plenty of squirrels to play with, and the landscape varies from an area of trees to a huge field to a soft grassy area that is apparently a blast to roll in.

“There's quite a bit of shade which was nice in the heat.”

The practical stuff
- AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says
- SurfaceNatural surface — easiest on the joints and the most fun, but expect roots, rocks and mud after rain
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeRunners describe real tree cover here — it makes a summer afternoon workable
- At the trailheadrestrooms — reported by runners
- DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
- Stroller / wheelchairReported as smooth and step-free enough for a running stroller or a chair.
