Confirmed from Reservoir Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

🌾 quiet & peaceful 4 mentions

“it's very quiet and peaceful and alot if nice friendly people visit the park daily to walk or jog/run”

This place consists of a huge track that surrounds a large reservoir. There's also a smaller track that goes up a hill and surrounds a tower there. It's perfect for jogging/walking or just taking in the amazing view of the city, especially at night! In the winter it's also perfect for sledding!

★★★★★ — Papita , May 2018

Great for walking. The park stays clean considering its location. Up keep of the park makes me feel safe in that particular area. The views of the city are outstanding and sledding is a blast

This is a beautiful place to walk, it has great views of the north side of the city of Lawrence, it's a good place to walk with a friend or even to go be alone for awhile to clear space in your head...it's very quiet and peaceful and alot if nice friendly people visit the park daily to walk or jog/run

★★★★★ — James , Dec 2017

Its a great place to take a peaceful walk so one day bring the family.in the 90's they had water in the middle of the park but kids kept polluting it then the city was forced to drain it. Tragety

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

🏞️ Scenic views 11 mentions

The practical stuff

  • AccessOpen 24 hours — no gate to beat, so a 5am or a 10pm run both work
  • DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
  • ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
