Confirmed from Rice Marsh Lake Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about Rice Marsh Lake Park

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (186 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

well-maintained 5 mentions

“It has a well-maintained trail around the lake, and it took us about 2 hours to casually walk a circle.”

Nice walk around the lake/marsh. Some very shady woody areas, other times you get an open view of the whole marsh and lake. And some of the trail is just off housing areas. Nice long walk. Lots of wild life and a sweet miniature gnome rock village to discover along the way.

Rice Marsh Lake is an excellent paved 3.2-mile trail suitable for all four seasons. It has a mixture of shaded and open (sunny) trails. It is relatively flat and is ideal for hiking, biking, or rollerblading.

Great park as many others have stated. The one "important" and confusing thing to keep in mind: The park has 2 playgrounds, 2 parking lots, 2 porta potties, 2 picnic areas, etc. in 2 locations that are about 1 mile apart, connected via the walking trail.

What a wonderful hike!! I do recommend setting a pin in your phone as to where your car is parked however since there are SO many parking spots. I had still 1.2 miles to go on my 3.4 mile trek when I thought I was near my car (and confused it wasn’t….

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.
