We have not been able to confirm the surface, distance or shape of Rio Rancho/Corrales Bosque Preserve yet from its own listing, the park's website or runner reviews — so those cells stay blank rather than guess. What is below comes straight from the listing and from reviewers' own words. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

I hike in the Rio Rancho/Corrales Preserve every day with my trusty canine companion. Keep your dog on a leash I've encountered bobcats, Porcupines, skunks, raccoons and Coyotes in the Bosque.

The trail system is good, next to the Rio Grand River. Not a lot of people here mid day Friday afternoon. Great weather for early December!

★★★★★ — Sean , Dec 2021

Nice access to the bosque trails. Large parking lot. Looks to be fun when it cools down.

★★★★☆ — David , Jul 2023

This is a wonderful little portage and beach. It requires a long slow drive a washboard dirt road, along an irrigation ditch, but then, for those who've braved it, you are rewarded with the end of civilization and the beginning of a journey along the Rio Grande. Dog walk, bike or toss in a float.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.
