Confirmed from Ritz-Epps Running Trail's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
What runners say about Ritz-Epps Running Trail
“Beautiful shaded place to go for a run.”
Absolutely gorgeous trail.. great for running or hiking is not too muddy and it is not to gravelly.
WARNING: THIS IS *NOT* a trail for BEGINNER RUNNERS! The ground is very sandy and uneven in most places. There is some shade, but the larger trails are all under the sun. With that being said, my calves are killing me, and I can barely breathe… but MAN do I feel accomplished. These trails are gorgeous.
I dont know anyone that has 100% mapped out Ritz trail all in one run. Wild berries in June make a great snack.
It would be awesome if the trail was better marked but I still really enjoyed being out there.

The practical stuff
- AccessOpen 24 hours — no gate to beat, so a 5am or a 10pm run both work
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
