Confirmed from Riverside Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Riverfront open space with a large field for sports & festivals, with trails for hiking or biking.
What runners say about Riverside Park
“Very clean and well kept.”
“With walking paths hiking trails with beautiful views of james (some viewing areas could use some tree trimming so you can see the view better).”
We literally had a magical time here. Sounds exaggerated, but it was pretty amazing. And the weather was 100% on our side. Love the historic area its in and the fairytale vibes.
We were in the area with our kids and looking for a park, so we decided to stop here. I saw that it had a train display, which I knew my train loving boys would be excited about, but when we got there, it was locked up. We were only able to look at it from outside of the fence. That was kind of disappointing.
Beautiful park! Enjoyed the paved trails and the view of the river. The pavilion area was great. Very clean and well kept. Lots of space to spread out. Can’t wait to come back during the warmer months and try out the tennis courts.
Spray park, playground, trails, views, history, events, and Christmas decorations and drive-thru. A peaceful, spacious park. The vintage ice cream man visits during summer.

The practical stuff
- AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says
- SurfacePaved — asphalt or concrete. Fast and predictable, runnable year-round, and fine with a stroller
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
- LightingRunners report lights on the path — useful for pre-dawn and after-work miles. Lighting and opening hours are separate things, so check both.
- At the trailheadwater — reported by runners
- Stroller / wheelchairReported as smooth and step-free enough for a running stroller or a chair.
