Confirmed from Riverview Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Riverside park featuring a boat ramp as well as soccer fields and a playground for kids.
What runners say about Riverview Park
“It is a clean and quiet place with a beautiful view of a river.”
“, the street that runs in front of the park, so I know how beautiful the scenery is at Riverview Park.”
Nice paved, shaded trail. Busy with walkers, joggers and bicycles. Clean and well kept.
The parks by the river. Steep hill down to park. Long walk across grass from other lot. Kids have fun. Has a small rock climb wall. Small slide for young ones. River next to park. Has a place to eat. Ball park next to it.
Riverview Park is convenient for those of us living in west end Radford. You can launch a boat from there. There's also rec league football games that occur there. There is a area for basketball. The main issue with Riverview Park is that there is no bathrooms and no running water.
Trail conditions & character
“Even has (at the time we visited) porta potties, though I did not check them for how recently they were serviced.”
“Nice view of the river, children's playground, basketball court, big open field to play in, and a small picnic area.”
“Dog friendly nice playground you have to ask the rec center for key to restrooms.”

The practical stuff
- AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says
- SurfacePaved — asphalt or concrete. Fast and predictable, runnable year-round, and fine with a stroller
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
- LightingRunners report lights on the path — useful for pre-dawn and after-work miles. Lighting and opening hours are separate things, so check both.
- At the trailheadparking, restrooms — reported by runners
- DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
