We have not been able to confirm the surface, distance or shape of Roaring Run Natural Area yet from its own listing, the park's website or runner reviews — so those cells stay blank rather than guess. What is below comes straight from the listing and from reviewers' own words. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about Roaring Run Natural Area

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (94 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

🏞️ beautiful scenery 6 mentions

“Beautiful fairly easy day hiking be aware there isn't water on the high trails during low rainfall.”

🪧 well-marked 3 mentions

“From there a short well marked connector trail takes you to the roaring run trail.”

🌾 quiet & peaceful 4 mentions

“It's so quiet and tranquil along with interesting geological features.”

This is a beautiful natural area but it is nice to go when it has not been raining a lot. There are a lot of stream crossings so when the streams are higher, you are going to get your feet wet. We have done this trail a few times and it is much more enjoyable with dry feet. It is really nice either way though.

We did a 9 mile hike here. Definately a beautiful place. The trail was well marked and not over grown at all. Be ready to cross the stream about fifteen plus times. We emptied our shoes about 4 times with how much water was in them!

I love hiking here. It's so quiet and tranquil along with interesting geological features.

Great place for a hike/trail run. Very quiet and peaceful. Roaring run trail has a lot of Creek crossings so be prepared to get your shoes a little wet. Good access point to the trail is the parking lot off painter rock road. From there a short well marked connector trail takes you to the roaring run trail.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

🏞️ Scenic views 7 mentions

“The small Fire Tower Road which passes through the area from north to south has one short section which opens up and gives a wide view of surrounding mountains from a high point.”
