Confirmed from Robertson Millpond Preserve's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

🪧 well-marked 10 mentions

“There’s an easy launch, well marked directional buoys, lots of birds and wildlife, a clean porta-potty, and a hose to rinse your boat or board off when you’re done!”

🌾 quiet & peaceful 7 mentions

“The peaceful atmosphere, beautiful scenery, and fresh air make it a must-visit for nature lovers and anyone looking to unwind on the water.”

Great serene place for a paddle. Looked for an elusive rattle-headed-copper-moccasin but didn’t find one. The trail is well marked and mostly shaded. Handle your business before leaving. There isn’t a dry spot to step on for a while. Its 1.3 miles start to finish. We went very slowly and it took us 1.75 hours.

Coolest place to paddle in the area! It's like floating through an ancient forest. Definitely check water levels before going as you could get stuck. Buoy trail is set up so it's easy to follow and you don't have to worry about getting lost.

★★★★★ — Melody , Jul 2023

Great location for a scenic kayaking or canoe excursion. Had buoys to mark the route as you paddle through an 85-acre park layered with beautiful trees and even a few beaver dams. Has a nice shelter area and a few docks. No public bathroom. Convenient commute for Raleigh/Durham NC communities.

★★★★★ — Xplore , Dec 2021

Looking for a calming place to kayak or simply enjoy the outdoors? Robertson Millpond Preserve is the perfect spot. The kayak trail is absolutely stunning and clearly marked, so you never have to worry about getting lost while exploring.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.
