Confirmed from Rock City State Forest's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

“The selfies that you can take are amazing and just the pictures alone are beautiful”

It is so much fun! We camped here overnight. The campsites seem to range in size but ours was pretty big. There IS a port-a-potty here. The rocks are really fun to explore. You can walk along the tops and look down or go down in. You can go in between them, through caves, and even climb on the rocks.

What a jem! Especially the little rock city trail loop. You can literally spend hrs just exploring all the crevices and rock formations and caves. One thing i recommend is paying attention to the spots under the rocks and caves during the rain season.

★★★★★ — Lyudmila , Nov 2023

Great place for hiking. If you are looking for a short adventure parking at the entrance loop will allow you to explore the rocks and passages between them. If you are looking for a longer adventure follow the Finger Lakes trail through the park and into the surrounding hills.

★★★★★ — John , Apr 2023

Such a beautiful place to hike and explore! There are lots of nooks and crannies and things to climb. Young children and adults will all find adventure! Finding the path in thick leaf cover was a little tricky, but doable (it's just a matter of going ahead enough to see if there are more trail markers on trees farther…

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.
