Confirmed from Rocky Peak Trailhead's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
What runners say about Rocky Peak Trailhead
The trail and hike were much prettier than anticipated. The GPS was taking us in the back way, which unless you have a high clearance vehicle I would suggest following the signs to Three Peaks Recreation Area off of Hwy 56. The dirt road to the trail head is easy for any vehicle. Be alert for off roaders.
Rocky peak Peaks Trail begins from a large dirt parking area with restrooms, benches, and plenty of space. The route follows a well-defined sandy-dirt path through juniper and desert terrain before climbing steadily toward the base of the mountain.
A wonderful trail in the desert west of Cedar City. Bring water, and sunscreen!
Great place to hike and camp..it would be even better if nosy people didn't call the cops because ibwas camping.

The practical stuff
- AccessOpen 24 hours — no gate to beat, so a 5am or a 10pm run both work
- SurfaceNatural surface — easiest on the joints and the most fun, but expect roots, rocks and mud after rain
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
