Confirmed from Root River Parkway | North's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Spacious park offering trails, an archery range, sand volley ball, playgrounds & an overnight lodge.
What runners say about Root River Parkway | North
“Awesome disc golf course and beautiful parkway!”
“Great place to walk the dog, mostly on the leash 🙄”
It's not a formal park or anything, so there's no designated parking or anything but a few foot paths. It is undeniably pleasant, though, great for a short outing. Bring boots that can get muddy!
Rode the Oak Leak Trail and the scenery was fantastic. Hidden gem in the Milwaukee County Parks.
I tend to run or bike these trails a lot and love the scenery as I go around. Some of it ends up leading to roads with traffic so stay to the side and be careful
I love this park for it's trails and parks. Picnic areas are always well kept and fun. MTB trails are fun to ride on.

The practical stuff
- AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
- DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
