We have not been able to confirm the surface, distance or shape of Ryan Park yet from its own listing, the park's website or runner reviews — so those cells stay blank rather than guess. What is below comes straight from the listing and from reviewers' own words. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about Ryan Park

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (33 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

🏞️ beautiful scenery 4 mentions

“Trails go through meadows and woods, with scenic views of the surrounding area, thanks to the high elevation of the park.”

🌾 quiet & peaceful 4 mentions

“Recommend to those looking for a quiet place to walk in nature.”

We love to hike this place all year, but be careful of the poo on the trails. People are not great about cleaning up after their dogs at all, and there are horses here too. If you come after a snowfall, and you only have two wheel drive on your car, enter the parking area with caution.

Wide open, mowed trails marked for horses lead up to overlook of the city and Pewaukee Lake. Would be beautiful on a clear day.

★★★★★ — Joyce , Nov 2022

Cute, quiet park. Plenty of trails with & without shade for a good walk.

★★★★★ — Liesl , Sep 2023

Nice wide open trails. Much quieter than other trails in the park system and in the area. Lots of options for trails to walk. Clean, unpaved, sometimes muddy after a rainfall in some down slope spots but can easily get around. Recommend to those looking for a quiet place to walk in nature. Great and easy walk for dogs.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

  • ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
  • At the trailheadparking — reported by runners
  • DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
